Embryology Program
Why we use quail eggs instead of chicken eggs.
There are many benefits in choosing to hatch quail eggs over chicken eggs. On average, the incubation period for quail is about a week shorter than chickens (17 vs. 21 days). That means your kiddos won’t have to wait as long to see their chicks hatch! Domesticated quail do not brood their eggs, so there is no guilt associated with taking eggs from a would be mother hen. Typically, 50% of all chicks hatched are roosters. For this reason, many farms are unwilling to take baby chickens once they hatch. Your quail chicks are welcome to return to our farm where they will eventually join our covey! Additionally, quail eggs are tiny, cute, beautifully speckled, and uncommon to most children. This makes for a unique experience your kiddos won’t forget.
